Scintillation Characteristics of Gaussian Vortex Beam Propagation in Turbulent Flume

Abstract Aiming at the low sensitivity of weak turbulent wake detection underwater vehicles, studied laser propagation characteristics in turbulence, and then proposed a method based on statistical scintillation peak Gaussian vortex beam for detecting turbulence fluctuation. According to refractive index power spectrum flume, intensity distribution images propagating through flume are simulated by using random phase screen method, under different conditions studied. For simulation results, with structure coefficient, average indexes near value spot obviously higher than those whole image. Under condition that temperature difference between hot plate cold plate, water about 6.4°C 5.8°C, respectively, image gradient (turbulence intensity) calculated experiment. The results show that, mean values fluctuate around 1.02 1.07, 0.58 0.68, when is small, which verify effectiveness turbulence.
